Richard Amner receives ICDDS Fellowship

The membership of the Institute spans the globe and unites academics and professionals from all walks of life dedicated to fostering communication and co-operation in all areas of civil defence and disaster management.
Richard has been a member of the Institute for more than twenty years. During this time his contributions to the Civil Defence and Disaster Studies field have proven him to be a valued asset to this venerable society.
The honour of attaining Fellowship status was bestowed upon Richard by the Institute of Civil Defence and Disaster Studies at a Civic Reception held in Chelmsford on the 26th of March 2008 with a presentation being made by Lord Petre of Ingatestone, Her Majesty's Lord Lieutenant of Essex.
Richard is no stranger to such events. He is a successful and prominent local businessman and has been a Local Councillor for twenty-four years. The pinnacle of his achievements within local politics came in 2003/04 when he was elected by his fellow Councillors to the status of Chairman of the Rochford District Council.
Speaking from his home in Oxford Road, Rochford, Essex Richard’s response to receiving the award was typically self effacing "I have very much enjoyed my years of membership and have tried in my own small way to contribute to the great works achieved by the Institute in ensuring that Great Britain is the safest place to live in the world. To be recognised by ones peers in this way is a great honour and extremely humbling."
